STONEBWOY GOING CRAZY OVER MOTHER'S DEATH...
Stonebwoy's manager, Blakk Cedi, has said that his client is not in a good state of mind in the wake of his mother’s death.
According to starrfmonline.com, Cedi told Live FM’s Jay Foley that the tragic event is having a terrible effect on the BET award winner.
“It should have been someone else and not Stonebwoy’s mum. Stone is going crazy and it’s not good for us now. Now that we have a lot to do, we have a lot laid in the pipeline."
“Stone’s mum is Stone’s everything. When we are out, when we travel to play shows, Stone's mum will call like five times that night just to make sure we are on our way back home,” he said.
“I was washing on Sunday in the morning when I had a call from his sisters that their mom collapsed… She was fine as at Sunday when she was admitted. I went there on Monday to check on her, and she was recovering, I couldn’t go on Tuesday but I was there on Wednesday afternoon until I had to go pick Stonebwoy at the airport.”
“I went to pick Stone at the airport. We just got in and we were told Stone’s mum is gone. The doctors were on her…” Blakk Cedi recounted.
Mrs. Catherine Satekla passed on at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra Wednesday, July 29.

SAMINI RIDES HIGH ON EXCELLENCE AT FACE LIST AWARDS 2015 IN USA...
Samini seems to be a “hot cake” African Act on tour the USA now. The African Dancehall King, he rates himself is still on his “Summer Unplugged” Tour in America.
Face 2 Face Africa approached him again this year after his scintillating performance at the 2014 award show (last year). As per usual Samini flawlessly gave out his best self again at the 2015 edition of the awards (where he performed for the 2nd time, concurrently) – his performance was nothing less than excellent on the night.
The Face List Awards (@FaceList) took place inside the classy ESPACE Ballroom in Manhattan, USA.
The ambitious media company “Face 2 Face Africa” (@Face2FaceAfric) is a fast-growing group with lots of foresight in ensuring the best of events across the USA; they’re the organizers of the show and were able to honour personalities such as Ghana American designer Mimi Plange, Boris Kodjoe (and his wife, just to name a few), on the night.
The organizing company apparently selects a group of Pan-Africa’s most influential pioneers and trailblazers – around leadership, entrepreneurial and entertainers circles.
Nevertheless it was exciting to witness another live, thrilling and energetic performance from the award winning Dancehall/Reggae and Afropop Superstar, Samini. His outfit for the occasion was apropos; Samini was clad in a bespoke Ankara pattern suit and tie by the Ampofo Brothers (@AmpofoBros).
With over a decade in the music industry under his belt, Samini’s effortless stage control and passion was portrayed during the live rendition, which was certainly a crowd teaser. It gave Face 2 Face Africa the opportunity to confirm once again why Samini was seen as asset to the media group, thus, was booked for the second time for the same event.
With that in mind, it calls for a reminder, Samini’s recent nomination ‘MAMA EVOLUTION’ from MTV. The award is set to honour established artists who have made an indelible mark on African and global music landscape. With only a few days left to the award show, set to take place in Durban the voting continues.

BUSY SIGNAL ARRESTED, RELEASED FROM CUSTODY IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO...
Dancehall/Reggae star, Reanno Gordon, more popularly known as Busy Signal had quite an eventful weekend in Trinidad and Tobago after being arrested and later released in relation to a financial disagreement with a local promoter over a 2013 show; all while he was set to perform a show in the country.
On Saturday, Busy was scheduled to perform at the Together As One concert at Queen’s Park in Port of Spain, but not before being taken into custody by police at his hotel shortly before his set. The entertainer was then hauled before the Port of Spain High Court for an emergency hearing.
The warrant was issued for Busy’s arrest by a local judge following a complaint filed by Peppers Entertainment, claiming they paid him in excess of US$37,000 to perform at a concert they were promoting in May 2013. However, the concert was postponed, with an agreement that the advance Busy received would go towards his performance fee for the rescheduled show.
However, it was alleged Busy never deducted this sum from his future fee and never repaid the money following it’s postponement.
During the court proceeding, Busy and his legal team agreed to enter into a consent order of US$30,000 with the balance to be paid in the next 30 days. Busy would go on to perform the Together As One concert as scheduled that night.
In his defense, Busy’s management team, Turf Musik Entertainment claimed in a statement that they had no knowledge of the deal with Peppers Entertainment as that was brokered by Busy’s ex-manager, Shane Brown and Jukeboxx Productions.
“The advance payment of US$37,088 was not disclosed to us [Turf Music Entertainment] by former management, who entered in to business affairs on Busy’s behalf,” he said. “We had no material knowledge whatsoever of this apparent infraction. If we had, we would have acted to resolve the issue prior to coming to Trinidad,”
“Turf Music Entertainment is currently requesting a copy of the original agreement between Jukeboxx Productions and Peppers Entertainment as well as transaction records between both parties regarding the event,” the statement continued.

STONEBWOY DISGRACES BLAKK RASTA BY PROVING DANCEHALL IS STILL ALIVE, WINNING V.G.M.A & B.E.T AWARDS THE SAME YEAR...
For any, music lover and follower of the music scene in Ghana, one fact that is obviously clear is the emergence and dominance of Dancehall music.
Over the past few years, Dancehall music has taken center stage; we are having more Dancehall artistes announcing their presence on the music scene and many Dancehall songs are receiving massive airplay.
Another fact to note is that many artistes who are noted for other genres of music are also now churning out Dancehall songs.
Notwithstanding the current emergence and dominance of Dancehall music on the Ghana music scene, Reggae artiste and Radio presenter, Blakk Rasta had noted that the Dancehall genre would die soon.
He was confident of this even though Dancehall songs have been dominating the airwaves for some years now and most importantly a Dancehall artiste in the person of Shatta Wale was the reigning Artiste of the Year.
Adding to this, Vybrant Faya’s Mampi had won the Most Popular Song of the year award at the maiden edition of the GN Bank Awards, Shatta Wale, another Dancehall artiste winning the best Male Musician award also at the GN Bank Awards and Stonebwoy was in contention for the Artiste of the year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards but Blakk Rasta was still confident to reiterate that Dancehall music would die.
Evident of the fact that Dancehall music is not likely to die anytime soon in Ghana, Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has proved Blakk Rasta wrong by winning the award for Artiste of the year at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
For Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy to win the Artiste of the year awards in two consecutive Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is enough reason to mention that dancehall music in Ghana has come of age and it’s not likely to die anytime soon and prematurely.
It’s also interesting to note that in the Artiste of eh year category, Stonebwoy wasn’t the only Dancehall artiste in contention for the award. Samini, another Dancehall artiste was also in contention for the award.
SAMINI PARTNERS WITH SAFE WATER NETWORK FOR CHARITY CONCERT...
Samini partners with Safe Water Network for a concert to raise funds for a Water Project in the Northern part of Ghana.
Join Ghanaian reggae sensation, Samini, and Safe Water Network for an evening of soul-shaking Ghanaian rhythms and fundraising for safe drinking water in Ghana. One of Ghana’s most popular musicians, Samini blends Ghanaian Highlife, Jamaican Dancehall, Afro-pop and American R&B for a unique ‘African Dancehall’ reggae style that won him MTV Africa’s Artist of the Year in 2014.
Following sellout concerts across the US (including SXSW) and Europe, Samini and his dynamic musicians will bring down the house in a rare opportunity to see this versatile star in an intimate setting.
Bringing together the transformative power of music and life-changing access to safe water, this show benefits Safe Water Network, founded by Paul Newman to bring reliable and affordable drinking water to communities lacking this essential life need. Proceeds from this benefit concert will go to Safe Water Network’s program to build Safe Water Stations in Ghana.
What is exciting about Safe Water Network’s approach is that it is truly sustainable.” – Kofi Annan, Former U.N. Secretary General, during a 2013 visit to a Safe Water Station in Ghana.
EPISODE SAYS SHATTA WALE HAS AN EMPTY CROWN...
Dancehall act, Episode, in a recent interview with Giovani Caleb on The Late Nite Celebrity Show has revealed he is looking to rub shoulders with none other than the originators of the genre.
Known for his Mandela single, the On Track artist told Giovani how he became the GH Dancehall King.
“The first competition I won was in 2012 and that was the Ghana Dancehall King competition. It was organized by some Jamaicans and some Ghanaians at Labadi Beach. The maiden edition in 2011 was won by Stonebwoy and then I won the next one and there hasn’t been another one so I’m still the Ghana Dancehall king" he added.
Talking about the difference between his title and that of Shatta Wale, Episode said, “We are looking above that empty crown. He doesn’t have a Dancehall crown to show for the title so it’s empty. Samini is African Dancehall King andShatta is Dancehall King but I won the GH Dancehall King. That’s why I want to look above all these things and shoulders with the originators who brought it”.
WTF! KAKIE TO ABANDON DANCEHALL FOR GOSPEL MUSIC...
Sexy Diva, Dancehall and Reggae artiste Kaakie, appears to have been swallowed by the new female artistes of the same genre that are currently making waves in the music industry.
Kaakie’s virtual disappearance from the scene has caused her enthusiasts to peddle rumors that she has prematurely dropped the circular microphone for Gospel music.
The “too much” hitmaker of the High Grade family, before coming into the limelight was said to be the Praise and worship leader of the church she attended as well as a staunch member of the Scripture Union (SU) while in Secondary School in Achimota.
If the rumors are confirmed, it would just mean that Kaakie has abandoned the genre of music that made her popular and back to her first love. It is expected that her Christian brethrens would welcome her wholeheartedly for her quick transformation.
The Ghana Music Awards Reggae and Dancehall Artiste of the year 2013 have to her credit Hit songs like; EWOO, Too much, Toffee pon Tongue , Kukukmcha, among others which have all enjoyed massive air play.
The Multi-million dollar question that is still begging for answer is “Is Kaakie really diving into Gospel music?”
SHATTA WALE TO COLLABORATE WITH BUSY SIGNAL...

BET AFRICA DIRECTOR 'LILIAN BLANKSON' URGES AFRICAN ARTIST TO MAKE MORE INTERNATIONAL APPEALING MUSIC...
Director of Programming and Production at BET International, Lilian Blankson, has condemned African artistes for tweeting lies and mistruths about the entertainment organisation, organisers of the BET Awards.
Afrobeatz change maker, Fuse ODG, Nigeria’s Yemi Alade and Wizkid have all been hitting hard at BET for “disregarding” African artistes for what they are worth.
But in a series of tweets, Blankson shared her thoughts on the backlash from the international acts nominees saying the artistes should “tell the truth”.
She also challenged them to channel their efforts into building an “internationally appealing” brand for themselves in order to get the attention they desire.
Blankson who has been with the BET Awards production team since its inception 15 years ago, said in a series of tweeter-rants, it is unfair for African artistes to make irrelevant the hard work they put in planning and executing the annual event.
Read her tweets below:
“BET will always signify Black Star Power, Africa, if we want to be featured prominently, we need to know the facts and be very practical”
“First of all, tell the truth and stop tweeting lies and mistruths. There has never been a backstage presentation of any award. Pre recorded.”
“First of all, tell the truth and stop tweeting lies and mistruths. There has never been a backstage presentation of any award. Pre recorded.”
“We need to work hard and get our music on the radio here in the US. How do people respect your brand when you are not on the radio?”
“Make your music more internationally appealing… Think of ways to get all audiences invested. Oliver Twist is a great example. Universal story.”
“Folks worked so hard to provide a platform for Africa on the network. We won’t get there overnight. And misinformation won’t help.”
“BET domestic does not and has never aired African music so to have a category is a major deal. Let’s prove and show them our worth not anger”
“The artistes who have been honored why haven’t you cleared the air and told the truth about what happened! Why the silence?”
“The artistes who have been honored why haven’t you cleared the air and told the truth about what happened! Why the silence?”
“Out of 19 categories, only 4 or 5 make air. This is standard in award shows. If the US artists are not outraged and complaining, why are we?”
“Performances sell awards shows and make ratings, not the categories. Let’s step up our game & get our music so big they can no longer ignore it”
“If you choose to fly down and watch the show and not do press who exactly do you think is affected or missing out? Think about it.”

“Let’s try and keep our category and know the facts. It does nothing to the network to tale it away, but it sends us back several steps.”
“Finally, let’s be a little humble. No one owes us anything. Like everything else, we have to work our way to the top so we can stay there.”
“Nothing has ever come easy to us Africans. But anything worth having will not be a cake walk. Started from the bottom, but we here.”

It is six months into the year and the dancehall artiste has bagged four awards, three of them being local awards – Artiste of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year.
With the BET Award out of the way, the Ashaiman-based musician will hope to add more international awards to his trophy shelf.
He has been nominated for the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA), and the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA).
Shortly after winning the award, Sarkodie, who won the BET Award in 2012, tweeted a photograph of Stonebwoy receiving his award with the caption: “And GHANA Won !!!!!!!!!!!!! @stonebwoyb”
